As a Technician, you will be responsible for preparing vehicles for testing, conducting emissions and fuel economy tests, and troubleshooting issues.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare vehicles for testing, which includes basic maintenance, replacing parts, and draining fuel.
- Serve as an Emissions and Fuel Economy test driver, operating a vehicle on a chassis dynamometer and accurately following prescribed modes.
- Prepare and conduct official and in-house tailpipe and evaporative emissions testing for certification, durability, and in-use verification programs in Ann Arbor and Denver.
- Troubleshoot emissions/fuel economy issues under the direction of senior staff.
- Ensure that test equipment is calibrated and functioning properly.
- Confirm that test vehicles are well-prepared for accurate emissions and fuel economy testing in compliance with federal test procedures.
- Work overtime as needed to complete testing.
Qualifications:
- 1+ years of hands-on experience in the automobile industry.
- Experience in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with data loggers preferred
- Hands-on experience in (highly preferred):
- Valve clearance check/adjustment.
- Emissions system diagnostics.
- Catalytic converter and exhaust system modification and replacement.
- Timing checks.
- OBD diagnostics.
- Fuel system inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Brake inspection, service, and repair.
- Tire mounting/balancing.
- Vehicle electrical system diagnostics and repair.
- Soldering.
- Welding (desirable).
- General tools including saw and air tools.
- Ability to lift 60 lbs.
- Ability to push 5000 lbs. vehicles with others.
- Ability to drive manual transmission proficiently.
