Bindery Machine Operator – Rochester, NY
Pay: $18–$21/hr (based on experience)
Schedule:

  • A Shift | Monday–Friday | 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
  • B Shift | Sunday–Thursday | 2:45 PM – 11:15 PM (+ peak overtime as needed)

Join a leader in print-on-demand solutions as a Bindery Machine Operator specializing in PUR perfect binding. You'll run high-precision bindery equipment — including Müller Martini Vareo Pro & Infinitrim systems and Horizon BQ?500 binders — ensuring strong, accurate adhesive application and consistent book quality.

This hands-on role combines mechanical skill, attention to detail, and digital interface operation, while supporting routine maintenance to keep machines performing at their best.

What You'll Do
  • Set up and operate PUR perfect binding machines for variable book sizes and thicknesses
  • Adjust machine settings to meet production targets and quality standards
  • Perform daily maintenance on PUR adhesive systems, including cleaning nozzles and managing adhesive levels
  • Execute routine calibrations and minor mechanical repairs; collaborate with maintenance team for major servicing
  • Monitor finished output to ensure spine alignment, glue penetration, and trim accuracy
  • Follow all safety procedures for heat, adhesives, and chemical handling
  • Assist in training new operators and support other bindery functions as needed

What You Bring
  • 2+ years experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or print finishing environment
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment
  • Comfortable operating software-driven machine interfaces and interpreting job specifications
  • Experience with Müller Martini, Horizon BQ series, or similar bindery machines preferred
  • Flexible to work overtime and weekends during peak production periods
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Physical Requirements
  • Stand for extended periods
  • Bend, reach, and grasp during machine operation
  • Lift up to 50 lbs safely
