Cost Accountant (Staff Accountant -Manufacturing)
Location: Bartlett, IL (100% Onsite)
Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
$35–$38 per hour
Indefinite Contract, Potential Temp-to-Hire Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to support the Senior Plant Accountant at a manufacturing facility in Bartlett. This role plays a key part in financial close processes, cost planning, and general accounting support.
This is a potential temp-to-hire opportunity
Position OverviewThe Cost Accountant will assist with financial close activities for a manufacturing and project-based environment, support direct costing and planning cycles, and provide analytical insight to operations and management. The ideal candidate has strong standard costing knowledge, manufacturing experience, and advanced Excel skills. Experience with SAP is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities-
Assist with monthly close activities related to production and project-based operations

Support development of labor and overhead rates for budgeting and forecasting

Perform variance analysis and reconciliations; provide management explanations

Conduct ad hoc product and plant cost analysis

Maintain bills of materials (BOM) and assist with standard cost rolls

Support new product costing and quotation costing for project-based business

Assist with physical inventory, analysis, and financial reporting

Provide temporary support to A/R and A/P functions during SAP implementation

Assist with management reporting and presentations

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required)

3–4 years of experience in cost accounting or staff accounting within a manufacturing environment

Strong understanding of standard costing and general accounting principles

Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; strong proficiency in Microsoft Office

ERP experience required (SAP highly preferred; AS400 a plus)

Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand the big picture

Excellent time management and organizational skills

High attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to prioritize effectively and adapt to changing demands
