- The Creative Team Leadis a creative and operational leader responsible for overseeing our in-house design and production art team.
- This role sits at the intersection of operational excellence and creative innovation — ensuring every file is right, every process is efficient, and every team member is empowered to do their best and most inspired work.
- You'll be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the design team, improving output, reducing errors, and expanding our capacity. At the same time, you'll be a creative visionary — with your pulse on current design trends and techniques — helping us evolve the look and feel of our products to ensure they stay relevant, appealing, and differentiated in the market.
- You will drive a performance-oriented team culture focused on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement, while inspiring your team to take creative risks, learn new skills, and grow in their careers.
Job Description
- Lead, mentor, and coach a team of Production Artists to achieve high levels of quality, speed, and consistency; support career development and foster a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Stay on top of evolving design trends, production methods, and aesthetic techniques to inspire fresh, effective signage and elevate company visual product portfolio.
- Provide creative input and guidance on layout, typography, visual hierarchy, and material usage to ensure designs are not only correct — but compelling.
- Own and optimize the entire art workflow from order intake through file setup, approval, and print-readiness; drive efficiency without compromising quality.
- Ensure team bandwidth meets order volume through smart scheduling, prioritization, and cross-training.
- Set individual and team performance goals, measure output and accuracy, and implement initiatives to drive continuous improvement aligned with company objectives.
- Oversee QA protocols and spot checks to catch errors, minimize costly reprints, and ensure customer expectations are consistently exceeded.
- Partner with Sales, Customer Service to support special design needs, resolve escalated issues, and deliver a 5-star experience.
- Lead the team in leveraging Adobe Creative Suite tools (Illustrator, Photoshop) with best practices in file setup, color modes, and large-format output.
- Work with other departments to bring new products to life, support marketing needs, and contribute to company-wide process improvements.
- Champion a creative and high-performance team culture rooted in curiosity, excellence, and a shared commitment to our customers.
Skills/Qualifications Required
- 5+ years' experience in graphic production, prepress, or signage design, with 2+ years in a leadership or management capacity
- Strong creative portfolio and keen eye for modern layout, typography, and design standards
- Expert-level skills in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and production file setup
- Strong understanding of color theory (CMYK, RGB, spot color), printing techniques, and materials
- Proven experience managing high-output creative teams in deadline-driven environments
- Experience implementing workflow systems, KPIs, or operational improvements
- Outstanding organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Natural coach and mentor with a passion for talent development and team building
- Highly collaborative and adaptable with a bias toward action
- Knowledge of signage, large-format printing, or real estate industry a plus
