Position: Electrician - Class 2
Location: Duffield, VA
Job Summary:
The Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical components, equipment, and systems while adhering to relevant industry standards. Safety, quality workmanship, and professionalism are essential to this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply working knowledge of electrical codes and workmanship standards.
- Interpret engineering documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, instructions, and bills of material, to perform accurate electrical and mechanical connections.
- Safely operate power tools and machinery such as drills, saws, crimpers, threaders, and benders.
- Prepare and terminate various electrical conductors according to manufacturer and VFP specifications (bend radius, lug crimping, torque requirements).
- Install and wire electrical components, including receptacles, switches, load centers, conduit, wireways, lighting, HVAC units, transfer switches, and generators.
- Work safely on ladders, in confined spaces, and lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring aisles and work areas remain clear.
- Suggest improvements for products, manufacturing processes, and documentation.
- Provide training and mentorship to department staff.
- Collaborate with other departments to help meet production schedules.
- Manage time effectively and maintain professional interactions with team members and clients.
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) by installing or removing test equipment and managing temporary power needs.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and facility upgrade projects.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with coworkers and customers.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Read, understand, and follow verbal, written, and diagrammed instructions.
- Understand occupational hazards and safety measures tied to electrical work.
- Skilled in using and maintaining tools and equipment.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and inspection abilities for quality assurance.
- High school diploma or GED required. Associate's degree or technical certificate preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
