Employment: 6 months with a chance of permanency 

Shift: Day Shift | 8AM to 5PM | Monday to Friday | Onsite 

Pay Rate: $27.13/hr 

 

Summary of Responsibilities:  

The role leads projects tied to the State Hazard Mitigation Plan and local/Tribal mitigation planning efforts, working closely with the Plans Branch Manager and a team of planners. Responsibilities include coordinating planning activities, facilitating stakeholder engagement, ensuring timely completion of updates, and monitoring federal policies that impact emergency management documentation. The position collaborates extensively with federal, state, local, Tribal, NGO, and private-sector partners. Candidates must be eligible for FTE conversion; no visa sponsorship available. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Lead projects related to State, local, and Tribal Hazard Mitigation Plans. 

  • Collaborate with the Plans Branch Manager and planning team to execute deliverables. 

  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings and coordinate planning activities. 

  • Oversee timelines and ensure on-time completion of annual plan updates. 

  • Review and interpret federal policies, directives, and frameworks relevant to emergency management planning. 

  • Assess impacts of federal guidance on planning documents and compliance requirements. 

  • Engage with federal, state, local, county, Tribal, NGO, and private-sector partners as needed. 

  • Maintain documentation, reports, and project tracking to support planning activities. 

  • Support the development of resilient community strategies through mitigation planning. 

  • Ensure all work aligns with agency standards and emergency management best practices. 

Must-haves:  

  • Experience in hazard mitigation, emergency management, or related planning fields. 

  • Strong project management and organizational skills. 

  • Ability to facilitate meetings and work with diverse stakeholder groups. 

  • Familiarity with federal emergency management policies (e.g., FEMA guidance, mitigation frameworks). 

  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills. 

  • Eligible for FTE conversion (no visa sponsorship available). 

Skills Desired/Preferred:  

  • Experience developing or updating Hazard Mitigation Plans (State, local, or Tribal). 

  • Knowledge of FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) programs. 

  • Background in GIS, data analysis, or risk assessment. 

  • Prior work within government, Tribal governments, or NGOs. 

  • Certification such as CEM, AICP, or related credentials.
