Description

Kelly® Science & Clinical is partnering with a Missouri-based wastewater treatment facility to hire a Laboratory Technician. This role is essential for establishing and maintaining quality control processes to ensure environmental compliance, process optimization, and accurate reporting. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong technical writing skills who thrives in a production environment and can build processes from the ground up.

Job Opportunity: This is a contract-to-hire opportunity for a laboratory professional looking to take ownership of process design and compliance systems in a growing, fast-paced operation.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 2:30 PM – shift aligned with operational start time
Starting Pay: $26.00 – $30.00/hour, depending on related experience 
 

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement processes for sample handling, document control, chain of custody, and statistical analysis.
  • Train and supervise operators on proper sampling techniques and regulatory documentation.
  • Create visual management systems to support sample identification and tracking.
  • Perform on-site chemical analyses in accordance with EPA guidelines and SOPs.
  • Maintain detailed data records, conduct data analysis, and prepare technical reports.
  • Apply statistical process control to monitor treatment effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with third-party laboratories for specialized testing.
  • Troubleshoot process deviations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Communicate findings clearly through technical writing and direct interaction with operators.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in an environmental laboratory or wastewater treatment facility.
  • Experience working in a production environment (required).
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Sheets, Smartsheet, and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with EPA methods, environmental regulations, and SOP development.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and process control.
  • Wastewater operator certification.
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to collect samples in various weather conditions.
  • Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Comfortable standing and walking for extended periods.
