What's a typical day as an Extractor/Wash Technician? You'll be:

• Inspecting and verifying crabs for injuries or unresponsiveness prior to blood extraction

• Extracting blood from racked crabs using a 12-gauge needle

• Collecting blood samples into bottles and delivering them to the laboratory

• Performing daily housekeeping tasks including cleaning walls, floors, and work tables within the tent area

• Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all assigned tasks

• Completing documentation according to company policy, cGMP, and FDA requirements

• Preparing washing solutions and agitating materials thoroughly

• Dispensing materials into plastic tubes for centrifugation

• Operating centrifuge equipment to separate materials from washing solutions

• Measuring and assessing quantities in tubes and adding sterile water as needed

• Agitating tubes to complete processing steps

• Performing additional related duties as assigned

This job might be an outstanding fit if you have:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Ability to perform repetitive tasks and work with hands for extended periods

• Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift

• Comfortable working in environments involving biohazards, chemicals, and live animals

• Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures

• Strong attention to safety and documentation requirements

Additional Details:

• Location: Temperanceville, VA 23442

• Schedule are either:

  • 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM

  • 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

• Shift Length: 10 hours per day

• Work requires use of protective equipment including goggles, face shield, gloves, scrubs, and boots

• Work environment may include wet/humid conditions, allergens (shellfish), odors, and exposure to chemicals
