Formulations Chemist
Kelly Science and Clinical has an opening for a Formulations Chemist for a long-term engagement at one of our Global medical device clients in Jacksonville FL.

Day shift – Monday through Friday 40 hours a week
Pay $22 -28 an hour based on experience
Must be able to supply own laptop

Formulations
• Formulate standard mixes according to established procedures and lab practices as requested and provide properly documented batch records with a second party review.
• Provide properly documented batch records with a second party review as needed.
• Assist in establishing blending and degas procedures for Reactive Monomer Mixture Formations in the process of being scaled up to support pilot line protocols.
• Provide degassed RMM to support pilot line lens build per requested conditions (time and quantity).
• Conduct, record, and report physical test results of reactive monomer mixtures according to procedures within 10 days of mix being formulated (or data requested).
• Maintain inventory of accepted raw materials to support pilot line lens builds.
• Maintain laboratory in a clean and orderly fashion to ensure compliance with GMP (good manufacturing practices)
Guidelines.
• Support investigations into laboratory non-compliances as they impact pilot line protocols.
• Formulate inks according to established procedures and lab practices as requested for pilot line protocol support.
• Formulate lens packing solutions according to established procedures and lab practices as requested for pilot line protocol support.
• Printing of plastic parts using the laboratory manual printer in support of pilot line protocols.
• Manage laboratory-generated chemical waste labeling and pick-up according to established laboratory procedures.
• Assist in the making of laboratory contact lenses using nitrogen gloveboxes.
• Execute basic experiments related to raw material characterization under the supervision of JJVC (Johnson and Johnson Vision Care) scientists.
• Contact raw material suppliers to obtain quotes and quality records for raw materials used in lab.
Data Reporting
• Responsible for submitting all generated data into the appropriate validated and approved Vision LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) system
• Responsible for maintaining a laboratory notebook and submitting all generated data into the appropriate validated and approved Vision LIMS system.

Laboratory Upkeep
• Analytical laboratory maintenance will be done by ensuring all necessary materials are available including glassware and lab supplies. Routine maintenance of lab instruments will be done by maintaining calibration and instrumentation logs and tracking calibration due dates of expiration. Temperature and humidity monitoring will be done in climate-controlled equipment. Coordination of off-site storage of analytical documents, including hard copies uploaded into
the LIMS system and laboratory notebooks, no longer required onsite.

Qualifications:

  •  Bachelors degree in a physical or life-science related field (biology, chemistry, etc.)
  •  Soft skills – independent worker, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, collaborate as a member of a team
  •  Strong attention to detail
  •  Previous experience a plus but not required
