Greenhouse & Insectary Technician
Kelly Outsourcing Consulting Group Kelly OCG, a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, Inc., is currently seeking a Greenhouse & Insectary Technician for a long-term engagement at one of our Global agriculture clients in Indianapolis, IN. This role is a full-time, fully benefited position. As a Kelly OCG employee, you will be eligible for Medical, Dental, 401K and paid time off, including holiday, vacation and sick/personal time.

Schedule – 7AM-4PM

• Monday-Thursday, every other Friday and every other Sunday

Pay $20.00/hr + annual bonus


Summary:
As a Greenhouse and Insectary Technician, you will play a vital role in the maintenance and operation of our greenhouse and insectary facilities. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a passion for plant care and entomology. You will work closely with researchers and scientists to ensure the success of ongoing experiments and projects while maintaining a high standard of facility cleanliness and organization. The job is highly routine, detail oriented and focuses primarily on insect colony care maintenance. Insect rearing work might involve working with many potential allergens such as pollen, debris from various dried plants, insect rearing, peanuts etc., but use of appropriate PPE will be mandated for such tasks.


Responsibilities:

• Handling many plant species growing in vertical growth chambers.
• Equipment cleaning, floor cleaning, weekend plant check
• Pot filling, pot assembly
• Media preparation in readiness for planting
• Flat seeding on automated seeding equipment
• Insect Colony Care Maintenance
• Insect diet media preparation
• Support Insect Management research trials

Qualifications:

• Plant Science Experience preferred; College Degree not required but preferred; Master's Overqualified.
• Ability to work with soil/media.
• Ability to work with plants of different species.
• Ability to work with and around automated equipment- pot fillers, seeder, bench moving systems.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and possess acute attention to detail.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work in a team environment and be comfortable working alone on solitary tasks as well.
• Must have good organization skills, great attention to detail, follow SOPs verbal instructions, and adhere to safety compliance protocols.
• Should be able to complete tasks with little supervision after the initial training period is over.
• Must be a fast learner and flexible as tasks, customer requests change frequently or with little notice.
• Time management is very important as most tasks need to be started and completed within the same day.
