Human Resources Manager
Location: Onsite in Tyler, TX
Salary: $95,000-100,000
Kelly Services has partnered with a packaging company to find a talented Human Resources Manager. We're seeking a hands-on, process-oriented leader to manage and implement policies and programs relating to employment labor relations, wage and salary administration, safety, orientation and training and more. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of manufacturing industry knowledge and a thorough knowledge of all segments of the Human Resources field. Responsibilities:
- Full cycle recruitment and onboarding for hourly and salaried employees; conducts orientation covering Substance Abuse Policy, Bloodborne Pathogens, lifting techniques, etc.
- Payroll administration for salaried personnel, including maintenance changes for hourly/salaried staff.
- Directs and maintains employee relations programs to promote productivity, acts as liaison among employees, union, and management.
- Evaluates employee programs, recommends changes for efficiency and cost effectiveness, and resolves issues regarding attendance, LOA/FMLA, worker's comp, and unemployment compensation.
- Provides guidance to HR staff, department heads, supervisors, and employees on HR policies, programs, and employment laws; keeps current with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Organizes employee appreciation, service recognition events, and other employee-focused activities.
- Administers employee benefits programs, maintains program details, and advises employees and management.
- Conducts annual harassment, drug and alcohol, and workplace violence training; ensures timely completion of performance appraisals.
- Assists in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures per OSHA and other regulatory requirements; performs surveys, inspections, and audits ensuring compliance.
- Reviews and maintains safety training documentation, policies, and procedures; compiles and maintains safety records including training completions.
- Coordinates CPR/First Aid training, annual harassment, drug and alcohol, and workplace violence training; ensures timely completion of performance appraisals.
- Participates in internal/external audits with customers, insurance agencies, OSHA, DNR, etc.; maintains audit and inspection records.
- Manages incident investigation and follow-up, ensuring communication; calculates and reports monthly safety statistics; analyzes injury data for trends and prevention.
- Acts as case manager for difficult claims including work-related and non-work-related injuries/illnesses; analyzes workers' comp data and recommends corrective actions.
- Helps maintain plant protection and security programs.
- Assists in development and maintenance of environmental compliance programs (air, water, solid waste); maintains required records, permits, and regulatory agency correspondence.
- Coordinates hazardous waste management (handling, storage, shipping, disposal) and ensures enactment of needed environmental training.
- Develops and maintains training manuals, reference libraries, and evaluation procedures to meet regulatory, company, and industry standards.
- Assists in compliance with HACCP, GMPs, Work Instructions, and Safe Quality Food System requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or business-related field or equivalent combination of education and 7-10 years of experience.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Human Resources Manager or senior level Human Resources Representative position.
- 3+ years of work experience with exposure to safety and environmental elements in an industrial setting; experience in flexible packaging industry a definite plus.
- Proficiency in ADP
- Experience with labor relations is highly preferred
- Must possess knowledge of all segments of the Human Resources field. Continually supplement knowledge with classroom and seminar instruction on related topics.
