Position: Laboratory Technician I (Temp-to-Hire)

Location: Atlanta, GA
Pay Rate: $22.50 – $24.00 per hour (based on education and experience)
Job Type: Temporary to Permanent

Position Overview

This entry-level lab technician role supports day-to-day laboratory operations in a production-focused environment. The technician is responsible for handling basic lab prep, equipment maintenance, labeling, restocking, and assisting with routine testing and quality checks. This is a hands-on position that may involve working with instruments, physical materials, and small tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare chemical solutions and dilutions (e.g., acids and carriers)

  • Wash, restock, and maintain laboratory glassware and consumables

  • Label finished products accurately and maintain clean work areas

  • Support inventory activities, including physical counts and material restocking

  • Perform basic lab procedures such as contamination wipes and volume determination

  • Operate lab equipment for balance checks and instrument verifications

  • Assist in managing and organizing materials such as soil, sand, or synthetic fillers

  • Pull and clean customer containers and maintain customer bins

  • Use engraving equipment and small tools to prepare lab components

  • Make copies, scan documentation, and organize lab records

  • Help order and track laboratory supplies as needed

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a science-related field preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of general laboratory experience

Skills & Competencies:

  • Understanding of basic laboratory practices and safety standards

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures

  • Comfortable with physical tasks and hands-on lab support work

  • Familiarity with common math concepts (e.g., algebra, geometry, basic statistics)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • Experience with hand tools, power tools, or lab machinery is a plus

  • Ability to read and understand professional and technical documents
