Materials & Physical Characterization Scientist
Kelly Outsourcing Consulting Group Kelly OCG , a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, Inc., is currently seeking Materials & Physical Characterization Scientist for a long-term role at one of our Global medical device clients in Jacksonville, FL.

Shift: Monday through Friday (day shift)
Pay Rate: $22.00 an hour with some flexibility
Duration: one year likely to extend
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the analysis of lenses using the following techniques: refractive index (with controls), mechanical properties (with controls -12 pre/6 post), contact angle (with control), FTIR surface/bulk analyses, absorbance/transmission, optical density, gravimetric water content (with control), surface roughness (AFM), pervaporation (DVS), oxygen permeability (with control), visual inspection using microscopy techniques using validated test methods.
- Support method validations by executing testing per protocol requirements. Sample types include solutions, mixtures, coupons, and lenses.
- Responsible for routine solution testing including pH, conductivity, and osmolality via USP or validated test methods, (verification/calibration must be performed as needed).
- Support competitor inventory maintenance and testing; support data entry/compilation of competitive testing information to build master database.
- Aid in the upkeep of calibration status of components, e.g. helping move components through the Calibrations system, working with systems change requests to update calibration due dates, etc.
- Support qualification of new instrumentation. .
Qualifications
- BS in Chemistry or related field such as Engineering or Microscopy with minimum of 1 year work experience.
- **Open to a recent graduate with Co-op or summer internships in industry. Technical/STEM degree is a must.
