Job Title: Payroll Specialist 
Location: Melvindale, MI 
Job Type: Contract  

Hours: 8am-4pm  
Reports To: CFO 

 

Position Summary: 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll Specialist to manage payroll processing for a team of approximately 15 salaried and 30 hourly employees. This role is responsible for handling biweekly payroll for hourly staff and monthly payroll for salaried employees, ensuring all payments are accurate, timely, and compliant with relevant laws. The ideal candidate will be experienced in payroll administration and proficient with ADP payroll systems. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Process biweekly payroll for hourly employees and monthly payroll for salaried employees using ADP. 

  • Review and verify timesheets, PTO, and other attendance records for accuracy. 

  • Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions in compliance with state and federal regulations. 

  • Maintain and update payroll records for all employees. 

  • Ensure accurate withholding of taxes and deductions for benefits, garnishments, etc. 

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues and resolve discrepancies promptly. 

  • Prepare payroll reports and summaries for HR and Finance departments. 

  • Coordinate new hire setup and terminations in the ADP system. 

  • Assist with payroll audits and ensure adherence to wage and hour laws. 

  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll data and personnel information. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or HR preferred. 

  • Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience, with both hourly and salaried employees. 

  • Proficiency in ADP payroll systems is required. 

  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and wage and hour compliance. 

  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines. 

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills. 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive data.
