Product Development Engineer
Kelly® Engineering is hiring a Product Development Engineer for a minimum 6–9-month contract with a client located in Palatine, IL. If you are passionate about shaping the world we live in and are ready to reengineer your future, trust the experts at hiring experts.
Overview
Our client develops electromechanical consumer products that incorporate the use of IoT technology. Due to growth, they're adding a Mechanical Engineer to their Product Development team.
As part of the team, you'll focus on design, prototyping, design validation, and testing for new products. This will include:
- Lead fast paced, complex electro-mechanical NPD projects from concept to completion.
- Create and refine design solutions to meet product requirements.
- Develop solutions through requirements decomposition, Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA), and Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R).
- Document designs using Solidworks, drawings, and bills of material.
- Optimize product cost.
- Create and execute test plans related to project work.
- Support prototype creation to validate designs including hands-on testing and iterative learning.
- Ensure that products are designed to meet all performance specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Work collaboratively with Quality, Manufacturing, Product, Sales, and Global Suppliers.
- Perform basic IP searches.
- Support non-NPD initiatives including the resolution of quality issues, cost reductions, and productivity initiatives.
- Develop unique and innovative solutions for unmet customer needs and/or new features to maintain product leadership.
Qualifications of the successful Product Development Engineer
- BS in Mechanical Engineering is a hard requirement
- Prefer 5+ years' experience with consumers product development or mechanical design of electronics for rugged environments or led at least 1 NPD project from concept through manufacturing launch.
- Strong proficiency in Solidworks
- Tolerance analysis, DFMEA, DVP&R, PPAP, Design for Assembly, Design for Manufacturing, Design for Reliability.
- Six Sigma or Sigma Science.
- Design for Regulatory and approval procedures.
- Flexible schedule to align with other program resources.
- Flexible to travel as needed or deemed necessary (domestic & international).
