Project Engineer Level 2

: The Project Engineer works on multiple IT implementation projects centering around Windows Server, Microsoft O365, basic L2/L3 networking, and firewall configuration. Common projects include: Network Infrastructure builds/redesign; AD upgrades/migrations/mergers; ISP changes; virtualization; application server upgrades. The Project Engineer possesses a broad range of both technical and business skills, as well as the ability to work with clients and vendors to ensure projects are completed on-time and within budget constraints.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work directly with clients and vendors to execute IT projects on-time and within scope/budget.
Help ensure projects remain within scope and escalate concerns.
Common projects include; Server migrations (virtual & physical), Firewalls, Switches, ISP Configs, Site Build-Outs, application migrations/deployment, O365 deployment, O365 migrations, wireless deployment, email encryption, DUO MFA, Cloud migrations, etc.
Provide support with initial project scope/design
Incident escalation, especially for complex network issues
Keep manager informed of issues that may impact the organization
Plans and directly manages complex cross-functional projects that may include external resources and contracted companies.
Works closely with engineering functional management, and other functions to gain resource commitments and resolve issues.
Formulates and gains approval for the overall project plan in consultation with senior management and stakeholders.
Monitors progress to plan and implements corrective actions or contingencies as needed to maintain commitments.
Provides management with regular project status, variances to plan, and identification of corrective actions.
Co-ordinates between projects, maximize synergies, and helps resolve resource conflicts.
5+ years of experience working on IT implementation projects.
In-depth understanding of current Microsoft Windows Server technologies; including Active Directory theory, design, and configuration.
Experience building and maintaining Microsoft-centric LAN environments from the ground up, including associated needs such as DNS, DHCP, ISP management, backups, etc.
Experience configuring multiple firewalls (SonicWALL, Cisco) from scratch, based on business needs and security best practices.
Routing, VLAN, and virtualization experience.
Experience working with vendors to ensure projects are completed on-time/within budget.
Ability to follow and produce written, documented step-by-step procedures for unfamiliar technology.
Ability to execute overlapping projects.
Preferred Technical Experience:
Experience implementing IT projects for small to mid-sized businesses
Experience with Office 365 migrations is strongly preferred
