QA Technician

Swedesboro, NJ

3+ Month Contract (Opportunity for extension/conversion!)

Full-Time, Dayshift Opportunity

Responsibilities

  • Collect environmental, raw material, and finished product samples and perform microbiological and analytical testing utilizing methods such as ELISA and Petrifilm
  • Monitor finished product retain samples throughout shelf life and communicate significant findings to a cross functional team
  • Participate in root cause investigations for holds and consumer complaints as needed and communicate findings to a cross functional team
  • Assist with reviewing incoming material qualification to ensure it meets food safety and quality requirements and enter and maintain all information in appropriate systems
  • Assist with hold/release system for finished goods, raw materials, and packaging materials
  • Perform periodic calibrations/verifications and maintenance on laboratory equipment
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and proper waste separation in the laboratory
  • Assist with performing employee food safety and quality training in topics such as HACCP, Allergens, CCP & Quality Checks, and GMPs
  • Perform facility inspections, such as glass and brittle plastic management and GMP inspections, and perform verification of follow-up corrective actions when necessary
  • Ensure that food safety, quality, and sanitation are met by monitoring activities, ensuring records are completed and turned in, verify records for accuracy and completeness, and follow-up with appropriate employees for corrective actions
  • Shadow pest control technician and communicate findings to cross functional teams
  • Provide coaching to production staff on food safety, quality systems, and day-to-day quality issues
  • Responsible for proper documentation of all activities performed
  • Drive continuous improvement in facility's quality systems, food safety, and sanitation
  • Comfortable working proactively and independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Follows all company safety rules in performing job duties
  • The job holder might be assigned to other tasks and duties if necessary
     

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Biological Sciences, Food Science, or related field required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in food manufacturing facility/industry
  • Must be able to work 3rd shift, 12am to 8am, and at least one Saturday per month as needed to support the operation
  • Knowledge of FDA food regulations, GMPs, Allergens, and Microbiology
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Detail oriented
  • HACCP & PCQI certification preferred
  • Familiarity with SQF or other GFSI schemes desired
  • Experience reviewing and writing policies and procedures desired
  • Ability to speak and write in Spanish desired
