Quality Engineer
 
Kelly® Engineering is seeking a Quality Engineer for direct-hire position with a manufacturer with heavy assembly, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and paint operationslocated in Durant, MS (1 hour north of Jackson, MS) If you are passionate about shaping the world we live in and are ready to reengineer your future, trust the experts at hiring experts.  

Salary/Pay Rate/Compensation:  
$90,000

Hours: 6:00AM – 2:30 PM
 
Overview 
 
This client is manufacturer of test equipment. They expanded operations and are investing heavily in ago and are continuing to increase investment by adding a Quality Engineer to their Quality Team
 
In this role, you'll support the launch of new products into production by ensuring manufacturing quality standards meet company and customer requirements at each stage of manufacturing process. You'll report to the Quality Manager and will work directly with assemblers, welders, metal fabricators, manufacturing engineering, design engineering and suppliers, and customers.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Establish quality control standards for new products being manufactured.
  • Plan, analyze, inspect, test parts, assemblies, to ensure quality of final product
  • Review, edit, or develop control plans, PFMEA, procedures for all parts within a designated criteria.
  • Work with buyers to address supplier quality and ensure appropriate investigation & RCA completed.
  • Visual & dimensional inspection of purchased products/parts for non-conformance & documentation
  • Interprets blueprints, drawings, sample models, or specifications to verify that parts meet internal quality standards.
  • Apply statistical process control (SPC) methods to analyze data and evaluate current processes and process changes.
  • Maintain the calibration database for all fixtures, tools, and gauges by determining the calibration frequency and methodology.
  • Document data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.
  • Develop new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities; ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and present information when needed
  • Agile in decision-making skills and ability to articulate conformance issues to inspectors, supervisors, and hourly workers.

Qualifications:
  • 2-year technical degree in manufacturing, engineering, quality or related field AND 5+ years' experience in a manufacturing quality assurance experience and basic knowledge of mechanical and manufacturing theory and design.
  • Prefer - bachelor's degree in engineering or related field AND 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment with quality assurance experience and basic knowledge of mechanical and manufacturing theory and design.
  • Proficient in GD&T and drawing best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with multiple levels of the organization.
  • Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented, with a positive attitude, a high degree of initiative, and a desire for continuous learning
  • Must be able to motivate, communicate, and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and creative skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on technical analyses
