We are seeking a Raw Material Procurement Specialist to lead sourcing efforts for critical raw materials and intermediates that support our R&D and GMP manufacturing operations. This individual will play a key role in ensuring secure, compliant, and cost-effective supply chains that align with regulatory and operational standards.
Job Title:Raw Material Procurement Specialist
Location: Remote (preference for candidates located in CST)
Hourly Rate: $30-35/hour + benefits (PTO, insurance, etc.)
Duration: 6-months (contract-to-hire)
Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers of raw materials, chemical intermediates, and reagents critical to API development.
- Work with leadership to negotiate pricing, terms, and supply agreements in alignment with quality, cost, and delivery expectations.
- Monitor supplier performance (quality, on-time delivery, responsiveness) and lead corrective action efforts when needed.
Procurement Execution
- Generate purchase orders and oversee end-to-end procurement process for raw materials.
- Ensure timely delivery to meet internal project and production timelines.
- Coordinate with R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to forecast material requirements.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all sourced materials comply with regulatory requirements (FDA, ICH, cGMP).
- Maintain complete documentation including Certificates of Analysis, MSDS, and supplier qualification records.
- Support audits and inspections related to raw material procurement and supplier quality.
Inventory & Cost Management
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess.
- Work closely with warehouse and planning teams to track consumption and future needs.
- Drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in raw material procurement within the pharmaceutical, life sciences, or chemical manufacturing industry.
- Understanding of cGMP environments and regulatory compliance related to raw material sourcing.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office tools.
- Familiarity with sourcing controlled substances or regulated chemical intermediates.
- Knowledge of international trade and import/export regulations (e.g., DEA, REACH).
- APICS, CPSM, or similar procurement certification is a plus.
