Maintains, restores and constructs roadways, drainage systems and related public infrastructure for the county.
Hours: M-Th - 6:00am to 4:30pm
Rate of Pay: $10.54/hr
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Constructs and maintains drainage systems, sidewalks, road restoration, bridges, ditches and sea walls.
Uses electrical equipment and hand and gas-powered tools, such as chainsaws, rakes, shovels and hammers.
Uses chemicals and cleaners.
Operates front-end loaders, tractors and riding mowers.
Perform traffic control duties through the use of signals (i.e., flagging, stop signs, and yield signs).
Cleans equipment and tools and maintains cleanliness and order in storage areas.
Reports equipment malfunctions and maintenance needs to supervisor.
Removes nuisance items from county property areas (i.e., litter, beaver dams).
Performs grounds maintenance tasks (i.e., mowing, trimming, edging, watering, fertilizing).
Must be able to meet work schedule and attendance standards.
Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED preferred. Road maintenance or outside laborer experience preferred. Requires a valid Class E driver license.

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of hand held and electrical equipment and tools, and light to medium duty construction vehicles. Must be able to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, or 20 to 50 pounds frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds to constantly lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work; must be able to perform manual tasks and remain on feet for extended periods of time. May be subject to a significant degree of danger or risk to due to extended periods of exposure to outside atmospheric conditions (i.e., rain, extreme heat or cold, high humidity), traffic conditions, working near heavy machinery and the use of chemicals/toxic agents in performing essential functions. May be subject to irate citizens, confined spaces, insects, reptiles, spiders and vegetation.
