Kelly Services is seeking an experienced Safety Administratorfor our client in Kankakee, IL.
Must haves:

  • 2+ years of experience in workplace safety, risk management, manufacturing admin, or related role (manufacturing strongly preferred).
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices.
     
This is a contract to hire opportunity, meaning you will get hired directly after 3-4 months, depending on your performance and attendance.

Pay: $20-24/hr.
Hours: Monday - Thursday 7am - 4:30 pm; Friday 7am – 11am

Summary:
The Safety Administrator is responsible for administering and maintaining the company's safety programs to ensure a safe, compliant, and proactive work environment. This role manages all safety-related documentation, training coordination, reporting, and Workers' Compensation case administration for the Kankakee facility, while also supporting and following up with safety administrators at other company locations to ensure consistency and compliance across all sites.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and maintain facility safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and organized safety documentation, records, and logs.
  • Coordinate and participate in incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Track and report safety metrics, trends, and compliance status.
  • Ensure timely completion of required safety postings, reporting, and documentation.
  • Serve as the primary contact for Workers' Compensation reporting and case coordination.
  • Submit claims, maintain records, and communicate with employees, supervisors, carrier partners, and medical providers.
  • Track restricted duty/return-to-work status and ensure required documentation is maintained.
  • Support injury prevention and post-incident follow-up processes.
  • Coordinate employee safety training programs and maintain training records.
  • Assist supervisors with new-hire safety orientations.
  • Help facilitate monthly safety meetings and safety committee activities.
  • Promote a positive, proactive safety culture across all departments.
  • Partner with safety administrators at other facilities to ensure consistency and alignment with company safety standards.
  • Review and verify safety documentation across locations (training logs, inspections, incident reports, meeting minutes, etc.).
  • Provide support and follow-up on corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct periodic remote or on-site safety audits and program reviews.
  • Help standardize safety documentation and procedures across locations.
  • Conduct routine safety walk-throughs and hazard assessments.
  • Monitor PPE use and overall workplace safety compliance.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) records and chemical safety compliance.
  • Support emergency response planning and drills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager or company Leadership to support daily operations and safety objectives.
  • Assist team members and leadership with projects or initiatives as needed.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive, proactive safety culture across all facilities.

Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in workplace safety, risk management, manufacturing admin, or related role (manufacturing strongly preferred).
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices.
  • Experience with Workers' Compensation case coordination preferred.
  • Strong organizational, record-keeping, and follow-through skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships across multiple locations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
