Service Technician, Floor Support Technician, Elgin, IL

Kelly Services is seeking a Service Technician for one of our top clients.

Duration: Immediate start, duration through the end of the year (possible extensions based on performances and needs of the business).
Type: Contract W2
Pay Rate: $26.00/hr. (W2)
Shift: 1st Shift (6:00 am - 2:15 pm)
Interview Type: 30-minute interview, virtual via Google Meet or Onsite

Job Summary


We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Floor Support Technician to join our team. This full-time role is integral in supporting our end-to-end infrastructure radio customization process. The ideal candidate will interface with MSI Systems Engineers, troubleshoot and repair electronic, electrical, and RF test systems, and provide first-level technical manufacturing support to multiple assembly lines.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the end-to-end infrastructure radio customization process.
  • Interface with MSI Systems Engineers to validate customer-specific infrastructure configuration parameters.
  • Create customer-specific infrastructure configuration files using internal MSI software applications and supplied configuration parameters.
  • Troubleshoot the customization process and escalate to engineering for additional support as required.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic, electrical, and RF test systems.
  • Identify hardware and software issues that potentially impact the test or build process.
  • Provide first-level technical manufacturing support to multiple manufacturing assembly lines.
  • Create, build, and maintain test systems/fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot fixture issues including pneumatics and mechanical functionality, software/PC triggered interaction.
  • Demonstrate excellent mechanical skills (pneumatics and calibration).
  • Maintain PC software and hardware, pneumatic, and hydraulic hardware.
  • Understand tool and equipment calibration practices.
  • Create or construct projects from technical documentation.
  • Utilize hand, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools proficiently.
  • Traverse and work on ladders and lifts overhead.
  • Lift 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Exhibit good interpersonal and communication skills and manage multiple priorities.
  • Work extended hours and/or weekends as required to support ongoing manufacturing operations.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Advanced mechanical skills, particularly in pneumatics and calibration.
  • Experience in PC software and hardware maintenance.
  • Skills in maintaining pneumatic and hydraulic hardware.
  • Familiarity with tool and equipment calibration practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities.
  • Proficient use of various tools (hand, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic).
  • Ability to work overhead and lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs unassisted).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
