Sr. Test Engineer (Cincinnati, Ohio)
Our client, is global leader in the medical device industry, surgical solutions, is currently hiring a Test Engineer. New role due to growth, client's internal team is on a hiring freeze, until the freeze lifts, role will be a fully-benefited Kelly Engineering Contractor. The Test Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the quality, safety, and performance of products by analyzing test protocols for new and existing products, collaborating cross-functionally, and driving continuous improvement in test methodologies within the highly regulated medical device environment.
Key Responsibilities Develop, validate, and execute test plans, protocols, and reports for new product development, design changes, and sustaining engineering projects. Serve as technical lead for test method development—including mechanical, electrical, and software test systems for breast biopsy and surgical platforms. Working with Systems Engineers, evaluate custom test fixtures and automated test setups; collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure test solutions meet regulatory and business requirements. (this is a plus however working with Systems Engineers, can contribute would be great). Analyze and interpret test results, troubleshoot failures, and work closely with design engineering teams to resolve root causes. Ensure test activities are in full compliance with FDA, ISO 13485, and other applicable regulatory requirements. Contribute to risk analysis (FMEA, hazard analysis) and test strategy reviews; provide guidance on test feasibility and capability during product development. Document all testing activities in accordance with internal quality procedures and generate clear, accurate test reports for internal and regulatory submission. Identify and implement opportunities to automate, streamline, and improve test processes for efficiency and robustness.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field. Minimum 5+ years' experience in test engineering, ideally within medical devices or a highly regulated industry. Strong knowledge of test method development, verification and validation (V&V), and applicable regulatory standards (FDA, ISO 13485). Experience with test equipment, data acquisition, analysis software (e.g., LabVIEW, MATLAB or similar), and statistical methods. Hands-on skills in designing test fixtures and troubleshooting complex test systems. Excellent documentation, organizational, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment. Experience with automated test systems, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
