*Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4pm or 8am-4:30pm



Kelly is seeking a Staff Accountant to work with our client, a premier non-profit educational institution, on a direct hire basis – starting ASAP! This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference within a mission-driven and community-focused organization.

The Staff Accountant will:

  • Perform general ledger accounting and other related duties for the organization
  • Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements
  • Maintain the general ledger
  • Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books
  • Reconcile bank accounts at least monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks
  • Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, student accounts, and other financial accounts
  • Work closely with Accounting Associates on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, ensuring payments are charged to the appropriate accounts
  • Provide outside auditors with assistance; gather necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit
  • File tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies
  • Coordinate with software vendors to maintain accounting software systems; recommend updates to enhance the accounting software
  • Assist CFO and school leadership with the annual budgeting process
  • Generate and work with budget managers on their monthly expense reports
  • Maintain knowledge of acceptable GAAP accounting practices and procedures
  • Comply with internal control policies and practices
Qualifications:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred but not required
  • 3+ years of relevant general ledger accounting experience
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and non-profit fund accounting preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
