Job Opportunity: Systems Engineer III
Location: Gulf Breeze, FL
Duration: 3 months with possible extension

Position Overview:
A Systems Engineer in the Defense and Aerospace Industry plays a crucial role in the development, integration, and maintenance of complex systems and technologies used in defense and aerospace applications. This position requires optical experience.

Job responsibilities will include:
The optical design of Displays and Network products

  • Optical testing of Engineering units to verify functional requirements/risk reduction testing (including uniformity testing).
  • Optical Design Verification Testing (ODVT) for Displays and Network products at Gulf Breeze, FL facility
  • Writing ODVT procedures and reports
  • Troubleshooting activities for displays products that are optical in natures (night vision failures, ‘glow'/cell stress visual anomalies, etc.)
  • Coordination of activities onsite to provide New Product Introduction (NPI) materials needed to create to have assets ready to support optical testing
  • Managing calibration needs of all onsite optical equipment.
  • Training of Production Test operators on proper usage of optical test equipment in support of acceptance test procedure (ATP) optical testing.
     
General requirements associated with this role:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop system architectures, subsystems, and components for defense and aerospace systems.
  • This involves understanding and analyzing system requirements, conducting feasibility studies, and creating design specifications.
  • System Integration: Coordinate and oversee the integration of various subsystems, components, and technologies to ensure proper functionality and interoperability.
  • This includes conducting system testing, troubleshooting issues, and implementing corrective measures. Requirements Management: Define, document, and manage system requirements throughout the entire development lifecycle.
  • This involves capturing stakeholder needs, analyzing and allocating requirements, and maintaining traceability between system elements.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with system design, integration, and operation.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks, ensure system safety, and enhance reliability. Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate and comprehensive technical documentation, including system specifications, design documents, test plans, and user manuals.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including engineers, project managers, and stakeholders, to ensure effective communication, collaboration, and alignment of project goals and objectives.
  • Participate in meetings, reviews, and presentations. Verification and Validation: Plan and execute verification and validation activities to ensure that the developed systems meet the specified requirements and performance metrics.
  • This includes developing test procedures, conducting tests, analyzing results, and documenting findings. System Lifecycle Management: Support system lifecycle management activities, including system upgrades, configuration management, and maintenance planning. Monitor system performance, assess operational issues, and propose improvements or enhancements.

Requirements:
  • Education: A bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering, preferably in a relevant field such as Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Systems Engineering. Advanced degrees or certifications may be preferred for senior or specialized positions.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of optical test equipment relevant technologies, such as avionics, sensors, communication systems, and software integration.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex system requirements, identify potential issues or risks, and propose innovative solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to address integration challenges and ensure system performance.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and clients. Hands on experience: Ability to execute optical system testing at the company labs, ability to collect and interpret optical test results.
