POSITION SUMMARY: 

We are seeking a skilled Vaccine Research Analytical Chemist to join our team at the NIH. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related discipline, with at least three years of relevant experience. This role involves independently performing UPLC-based content and identification assays for clinical vaccine candidates, including virus vaccines, recombinant proteins, and virus-like particles. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the clinical development of various vaccine candidates by performing essential bioassays, supporting assay development for cGMP product release, and participating in protein characterization assay development. Responsibilities also include writing technical protocols and reports documenting analytical studies, demonstrating expertise in laboratory equipment operation, and contributing to method qualification and transfer processes. 

 

TASKS. The contractor shall: 

  • Support the Analytical Development department in the Vaccine Production Program. 

  • Independently perform UPLC-based assays for virus vaccines, recombinant proteins, and virus-like particles. 

  • Contribute to the clinical development of vaccine candidates through multiple bioassays. 

  • Provide assay support and development for cGMP product release and characterization. 

  • Participate in the development of protein A-UPLC, SE-UPLC, and bioassays for virus-like-particle vaccines. 

  • Develop, characterize, and transfer assays to QC groups for product release. 

  • Write technical protocols and reports documenting analytical development studies. 

 

REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related discipline. 

  • Minimum of three years of experience in chemistry or a related field. 

  • Demonstrated experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting. 

  • Knowledge of general laboratory equipment and procedures. 

  • Experience with analytical equipment automation or instrument and method qualification. 

  • Proficiency in writing and reviewing technical documents, including protocols, SOPs, and QC data packets. 

  • Familiarity with computer software for word processing and data evaluation. 

  • Knowledge of statistical design of experiments (DOE). 

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. 

  • Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
