Vice President, Sales and Service (Life Sciences)
Location: Would need to relocate to Maryland, relocation assistance provided
Salary: $350,000-$400,000/year with up to 40% target bonus

Overview

The Vice President, Sales and Service is responsible for leading the North American commercial organization, including Direct Sales, Field Service, Technical Support, and Applications Development. This executive role owns full P&L responsibility and is accountable for driving revenue growth, profitability, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence across a broad life sciences tools portfolio. The role operates within a highly matrixed, global organization and partners closely with Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations, and senior leadership to align strategy, execution, and talent development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute strategic and tactical sales plans to achieve financial, operational, and customer satisfaction goals across North America.

  • Manage a large, multi-layered organization of sales and service leaders, serving as a true “leader of leaders.”

  • Own P&L responsibility for a $500M+ revenue organization, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance management.

  • Partner closely with Marketing to drive market awareness, demand generation, and revenue growth initiatives.

  • Oversee Field Service, Scientific Support, and Applications Development to ensure exceptional customer experience, loyalty, and retention.

  • Build, mentor, and retain high-performing commercial and service teams through structured development, coaching, and succession planning.

  • Work cross-functionally and globally to support product innovation, efficient supply chains, regulatory compliance, and operational scalability.

  • Develop and maintain strong executive-level customer relationships to expand existing accounts and capture new business opportunities.

  • Lead sales operations including forecasting, territory and account planning, performance tracking, incentive programs, and compliance.

  • Drive continuous improvement, transparency, and collaboration across a complex matrixed organization.

  • Contribute as a senior member of the leadership team to overall business strategy, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a life science discipline (e.g., biology, immunology, biotechnology); MBA strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in sales within a scientific or life sciences organization.

  • At least 8 years of experience leading large-scale sales and service organizations in the life sciences tools or diagnostics space.

  • Proven success managing full sales operations including Field Service, Technical Support, Applications Support, and Applications Development.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead large teams (200+ employees) with significant P&L responsibility ($500M+ revenue).

  • Strong experience operating in global, matrixed environments and influencing across cultures and geographies.

  • Track record of talent development, organizational scaling, and driving change in complex organizations.

  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance management.

  • Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally up to 80%.

  • Ability to be based in or relocate to the U.S. East Coast region (hybrid/on-site expectations apply).
