Description
We are seeking a talented Electrical Engineer (or Mechanical Engineer with strong harness design experience) for a contract role focused on harness design and integration for our advanced autonomous vehicle platform. This position blends electrical systems knowledge with mechanical CAD design to create and package wiring harnesses, electrical enclosures, brackets, and supporting structures. You'll work on sophisticated low-voltage harnesses that ensure reliable connectivity across sensors, controllers, and subsystems in a cutting-edge robotaxi environment.
The ideal candidate is hands-on with CAD tools (especially CATIA V6 or similar), comfortable bridging electrical and mechanical disciplines, and thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop wiring harnesses and related components using CAD tools (CATIA V6 preferred, or equivalent like CATIA V5, NX, Creo).
- Create 3D models and packaging for harness routing, electrical boxes/enclosures, mounting brackets, and structural supports.
- Collaborate closely with electrical, systems, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to translate high-level requirements into detailed designs.
- Take ownership of small-to-medium projects: generate concepts, iterate designs, create test benches/fixtures, and support prototyping/validation.
- Work cross-functionally to incorporate feedback from other groups, fill knowledge gaps, and drive independent problem-solving.
- Support harness manufacturing processes, supplier interactions, and design-for-manufacturability reviews.
- Participate in design reviews, testing, and iterative improvements to meet performance, reliability, and integration goals.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred), Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience designing wiring harnesses or electrical distribution systems (automotive, aerospace, or complex vehicle systems highly desirable).
- Proficiency in CAD design tools, with CATIA V6 (or V5) experience strongly preferred; ability to model harness routing, brackets, and enclosures in 3D.
- Solid understanding of electrical principles (connectors, wiring, low-voltage systems) combined with mechanical design skills for packaging and structural integration.
- 2–5+ years of relevant experience preferred; open to strong early-career engineers who demonstrate curiosity, independence, and quick learning.
- Proven ability to work independently, lead small projects, and collaborate across teams in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, gap-filling mindset.
- Prior experience in automotive or autonomous vehicle harness design.
- Familiarity with harness manufacturing processes and supplier collaboration.
- Hands-on experience building prototypes, test setups, or benches.
- Knowledge of automotive standards (e.g., low-voltage wiring, environmental durability).
