POSITION SUMMARY

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the supervisor of the entire shift of the warehouse operations to include staffing, training, productivity, cleanliness, people development, cost control, quality and safety with focus on customer service. This position is also responsible for the Food Safety and Food quality programs. In the event that this position is not on-site the warehouse manager will be responsible for the Food Safety and Food Quality program.

 
Shift: Night - 6pm-6am


Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise the nightly operations of the warehouse shift, including following the basic production scheduling, work assignments, employee supervision, counseling, employee safety and administration of company policies and procedures. 
  • Prepare and document written performance evaluations, counsels' employees as needed and resolve any employee issues, disciplinary actions and performance recognition of employees in their area.
  • Supervise mod pallet production process; make sure all WOs are backflushed correctly and closed out weekly. 
  • Review Forklift issues and write WO for maintenance or contact vendor for repairs. 
  • Monitor transfers and put trailers in the doors as needed.
  • Back up for all positions in the warehouse; Warehouse Manager, Traffic Clerk, Forklift Operator, Palletizer/Forklift Operator and Warehouse Lead (for coverage purposes).
  • Ensure product rotation is occurring by setting expectations with forklift drivers on shipping out the oldest product first. Audit shippers to see if the oldest product actually was pulled and coaches employees when there is a gap. 
  • Respond to customer service requests by reviewing daily appointments and staffing against the appointments to reduce truck turnover time, along with ensuring that the product is available prior to appointment. Organize the warehouse so productivity is optimal and communicating opportunities to the Warehouse Manager
  • Manage all incoming materials and product.   • Conduct monthly safety meetings, eliminate any potential safety hazards, follow up on safety issues related to the department and coach employees on safe behavior. Perform to housekeeping audits per year and follow up on progress of the findings.
  • Develop training materials and train new employees that are hired in the work area assigned

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (If applicable)

  • Manage multiple employees; the Warehouse Lead and Forklift Operators report to this position.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Communicates job expectations; planning, monitoring, and assessing job results; coaching, and counseling employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Establishes strategic goals; identifying and evaluating trends; choosing a course of action; defining objectives; evaluating outcomes.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Forklift certification or 2 or more years of sit-down forklift experience
  • Three years' warehouse experience
  • Two years of supervisory experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting; driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field.

 

FREQUENT: Ability to talk and hear; ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend and/or crouch; push/pull; lift up to 50 pounds; use of hands and fingers to operate machinery/equipment and all manual and electronic equipment in area of responsibility. Exposure to wet and humid conditions and fluctuations in ambient temperature (seasonal).

 

OCCASIONAL: Squatting, kneeling, ability to reach above and at shoulder height. Ability to wear a dust mask, and perform Confined Entry using LOTO program. Exposure to toxic and corrosive chemicals.

 

VISION: Ability to use close and distance vision, as well as color and peripheral vision with or without correction. Must be able to visually detect obstacles and potential dangers in a fast-paced production environment involving high speed equipment and powered industrial lift equipment.

 

HEARING: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Exposure to noise levels from pumps, machinery, forklift traffic, bottle lines and exhaust fans.
