Lawyers Without Borders (LWOB) is currently accepting applications for a full-time fellowship position in one of our grant-funded programs in New Haven, Connecticut for work on a human trafficking project.
LWOB is an international NGO headquartered in New Haven, Connecticut. LWOB's objective is to protect the integrity of the legal process globally and, through pro bono service of lawyers from around the world, improve access to justice, particularly among the underserved. The organization has a two-pronged mission: to grow the culture of international pro bono service and harness that resource to serve rule of law programs globally through trial advocacy training, justice sector support, assessments, trial and prison observations, community outreach and technical assistance projects that build capacity and improve access to justice.
The applicant should be available to start by October 1, 2019, in New Haven, Connecticut (or very soon thereafter) and commit to the program for a minimum of 1.5 -2 years.
Successful applicants will be young professionals, college or law school graduates, skilled in multi-tasking, dedicated to human rights or rule of law-oriented programming and willing to be a supportive member of hard-working committed teams of lawyers and pro bono volunteers.
Eligible candidates should have several of the following credentials:
- BA or Law/Graduate degree
- Superior academic record
- Demonstrated ability to think "outside the box"
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Self-starter and ability to work independently
- Strong writing, verbal and editing skills
- Strong computer skills
- Language: Fluent in written and spoken English
This position requires the ability to travel to Africa 1-4 times per year.
