Job Summary

Inventory Specialist requires an individual who is highly motivated and creative. This individual should be a strong contributor to the Emergency Department team. Responsible for inventorying, replenishing, and reconciling department par levels. This position will order, check in and distribute department supplies, nourishment items and equipment utilizing Lexington Medical Center's.  Responds to and prioritizes STAT and routine needs and distribution of supplies.

Minimum Qualifications

•Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
•Minimum Years of Experience: 1 Year of related work experience in Materials Management, or inventory distribution
•Substitutable Education & Experience: None
•Required Certifications/Licensure: None
•Required Training: Excellent computer skills and customer service skills

Essential Functions
  • Requisition timely and cost-effective replenishment of supply items in all areas of responsibility.
  • Establish and maintain accurate par levels for department supplies and nourishments.
  • Expedite orders and when necessary, obtain items from alternate sources or alternate acceptable substitutes
  • Perform preventative maintenance tag inspections for department equipment and carts. Items with expired PM tags will be sent to the appropriate department for inspection.
  • Perform appropriate stock rotation using first in first out principle. Ensure stocked products are not expired .
  • Must be able to respond to STAT supply requests in an expedient and accurate manner.
  • Maintains supply of sterile equipment and other medical supplies for department carts, and  critical response boxes (respiratory, STEMI etc.) with essential supplies.
  • Establish and maintain safe, neat, clean and orderly stock areas.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinates repairs of medical equipment and/or instruments with the appropriate persons, i.e. hospital Engineering Department, Biomedical Department or manufacturer.
  • Investigates and returns supplies and equipment for product recalls. 
  • Coordinates the initial inspection of any new medical equipment with Biomedical Department.
  • Coordinates borrowing or lending of supplies and equipment between LMC and other area hospitals.
  • Works in a collaborative relationship with other hospital departments and inventory staff.
  • Assists in managing year-end inventory processes, procedures and documentation.
  • Monitors inventory of disaster response suits and supplies in conjunction with Emergency the Preparedness Coordinator.
  • Performs all other duties and projects as assigned by management.
