Title and Summary

Director, Business Development Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled sales and business development professional to join our dynamic team. This role will focus on strengthening Mastercard's strategic partnerships with major digital players in China, supporting their global expansion, and driving adoption of Mastercard's products, solutions, and services.

Role
As a high-profile, customer-facing leader, you will:
• Own and drive the overall relationship and profitability of the key customers.
• Lead the day-to-day customer relationship including building and enhancing relationships with key stakeholders
• Help drive Mastercard's go-to-market strategy with your partners across all Mastercard products and services.
• Develop and execute strategic and tactical plans to enhance both customer and Mastercard profitability.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to identify new segments and product opportunities, developing tailored propositions to maximize market penetration.
• Lead complex initiatives internally and externally, managing key customer accounts, stakeholder relationships, and large-scale cross-functional projects.
• Identify, develop, and scale new business opportunities, programs, and solutions that drive long-term growth. This role requires a commercially astute business developer who combines strategic thinking with strong execution capabilities, a fast-learning mindset, and a deep understanding of new technologies.

Experience & Qualifications
• Preferably at least 8 years of experience in business development, sales, or consulting.
• Excellent understanding of the digital payments industry, including trends, acceptance landscape, acquirer economics, and value chain.
• Familiarity with digital payment technologies, convergence trends, and retail payment innovations; prior experience in digital payments is a plus.
• Proven ability to work in a matrix organization and collaborate across teams.
• Expertise in consultative selling, including strong influencing and negotiation skills, and the ability to think from a customer's perspective.
• Exceptional business acumen with the ability to conceptualize, articulate, and develop new business opportunities.
• Exceptional relationship management, impact, and influencing skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities; proficiency in integrating knowledge across sales, product, marketing, and services.
• You consistently exhibit sound business judgement with established strategic/conceptual thinking and strategic planning skills.
• You have a passion for understanding how products, tools and solutions work. While you might not be an engineer, you're endlessly curious as to how solutions function
• Given the scope of your work, exceptional project management and organizational skills
• You have experience in deal development and can manage & lead a deal process end-to-end.
• You're a data-driven, strategic thinker with financial acumen; and a deep curiosity that inspires you to deep dive on complex topics and unstructured problems to deliver creative solutions.
• Fluency in English and Mandarin.
• Demonstrated ability to drive results and accelerate commercial agreement implementations in a collaborative environment.
