Title and Summary
Director, Growth Segment Partnerships OVERVIEW:Growth Segments is a team of innovators incubating businesses that extend Mastercard's reach to low-income consumers and micro-merchants. By extending core business capabilities and functionalities to these segments, we drive secular shift of cash to digital and create domestic relevance for Mastercard in local economies. Our businesses are centered on building digital ecosystems that enable low-income segments to pay and get paid digitally, ultimately formalizing the economy. For example, we are incubating businesses that enable smallholder farmers to get paid more and faster, by organizing a digital ecosystem in agriculture and developing solutions that address gaps for FIs to serve the ag sector. We are passionate about the power of digital transformation to improve lives and livelihoods in underserved communities.
The Partnerships Director will be responsible for pursuing and attracting new partners, as well as managing the pipeline of current partner relationships, to enable and expand Growth Segments (GS) programs in alignment with customer and market needs. The goal is to secure funding and/or in-kind support and direct it into MA ecosystems to drive uptake and adoption of MA solutions, driving domestic relevance for MA in strategic growth markets. The Director will focus on major global and interregional partners in the development and private sectors, with a focus on FIs, technology organizations and VCs, as well as NGOs, Foundations, and other nonprofit organizations. The Director will also be responsible for securing support from the US government and partners to the US government from target markets, in coordination with Mastercard's Government Affairs & Policy teams. This role reports directly to the SVP, Growth Segments.
ROLE:
Own end-to-end relationships with major global and interregional partner organizations in the private, public, multi-lateral and social sectors
Identify, build, and manage deal pipeline
Close partnership deals, on a bilateral basis or via Mobilizing Access to the Digital Economy (MADE) Alliance
Identify and direct partner programs and funding toward the needs of Mastercard customers (AgTechs, FinTechs, Microfinance Institutions, Banks) in target markets (e.g., Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia)
Partner with Mastercard Growth Segments in-market teams to launch partnership programs and drive to success for all partners and end users
Manage relationships across the organization from working to executive level
Manage Growth Segments' relationship with US government departments and agencies, as well as stateside embassies of our target markets, in coordination with Mastercard Government Affairs and Policy
Drive domestic and global relevance for Mastercard and its work with low-income consumers and micro-merchants by:
Facilitating data collection and analysis, and reporting and communications of programmatic results and activities
Supporting thought leadership and participation in marquee events
Supporting Mastercard executive leadership meetings with senior government officials and marquee partners (e.g., drafting and editing briefing memos and internal reports and communications )
Supporting development of marketing/communications materials
Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning by leveraging the learning & development curriculum to augment existing knowledge, skills, and experiences.

Proven leadership in relationship management, adept at engaging, influencing, and managing multiple senior stakeholders with professionalism, maturity, and strategic acumen across complex, matrixed global organizations in the public, private, and social sectors
Extensive experience pursuing, negotiating, and launching partnerships or programs, ideally within underserved populations, emerging markets or high-growth environments.
Deep passion for driving impact in underserved communities, combined with the ability to uncover consumer and customer needs and structure complex, high-value deals to serve these unique markets.
Well-established network of relevant contacts across public, private, and social sectors, with the ability to leverage these relationships to advance Growth Segments objectives.
