Overview
The Distributed Platforms team is looking for a Lead Platform Engineer to join our Operations team to help drive automation and toil reduction across our processes and compute and storage products. You will also become a SME on how our products and services interoperate with each other and our customer applications, helping diagnose and resolve some of our most complex incidents. The ideal candidate is passionate about operational excellence, highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and multi disciplined in technologies such as Linux, Vmware, Storage, Networking.

Role
• Be one of the regional leads for managing and supporting incident triage
• Drive standardization of processes, tooling and ways of working across core operational areas of Storage, Linux and VMware
• Champion and implement automation and toil reduction of operational work
• Champion and implement enhanced monitoring and observability across our core products and services
• Mentor junior staff, challenge assumptions and influence change

All About You
The ideal candidate for this position should:
• Experience working in an operational role with knowledge of ITSM processes
• Strong technical experience across a broad range of compute and storage technologies like Linux, Vmware, Block, File and S3 Storage, Kubernetes, Pivotal Cloud Foundry
• Strong experience in wider technology areas like networking and load balancing
• Knowledge of technologies such as Kafka, Postgres, Redis, Tomcat
• Experience using monitoring and observability tools like Splunk, Aria Operations, Grafana
• Experience using automation tooling like Chef, Ansible, Jenkins and XL Release
• Highly skilled at problem solving and using data to drive decision making
• Highly skilled at thinking about problems holistically
