Title and Summary
Manager, Software Engineering Marketing Technology Solutions (MarTS) is building cutting-edge, intuitive, intent-driven marketing products to empower our customers, generate high-value leads and fuel the Mastercard brand. We are a part of the Corporate Technology Solutions Group Mastercard Technology business unit that powers the customer technology backbone of Mastercard. MarTS operates at the center of marketing, business, product, and technology, and brings to life marketing strategies and helps to pave the way for new ones that power our growth. This Engineering Manager would oversee technical projects, guide engineering teams, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality solutions. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership and communication skills to drive innovation and excellence across all engineering efforts.Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Manager to.
• Lead the design, development, and deployment of complex engineering projects.
• Responsible for managing a group of engineers and responsible for their quality of work and their career
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to define project requirements and deliverables.
• Ensure engineering best practices, code quality, and performance standards are upheld.
• Conduct code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical deep-dives.
• Manage project timelines, risks, and resources to ensure timely delivery.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
All About You
· Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
· Leadership: Extensive experience in software engineering with a proven record of leading technical teams and delivering scalable, enterprise-grade solutions.
· Programming Expertise: Ability to write secure, high-performance code in two or more languages (e.g., Java, JavaScript).
· Backend Development: Deep hands-on experience building multi-threaded, event-driven, and scalable applications using Java 17+, Spring Boot, Spring Core, Spring Batch, Hibernate/JPA/MyBatis, Maven/Gradle, PL/SQL, Unix/Shell scripts.
· Data & Caching: Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL (schema design, query optimization, stored procedures) and Redis/ElasticCache for distributed caching and state management.
· File/Object Storage: Practical experience with file and object storage systems (e.g., AWS S3, ECS) for data ingestion and retrieval.
· Microservices & Communication: Proven expertise in RESTful API design, asynchronous communication (Kafka/Axon), and resilient inter-service communication patterns (retry, circuit breaker, saga, pub/sub).
· Frontend Development: Experience building responsive UIs with Vue.js (preferred) with focus on accessibility and cross-browser compatibility.
· Load Balancing & Scalability: Working knowledge of application load balancing (F5, Nginx, ALB, API Gateway), service discovery, and designing for multi-AZ/high availability deployments.
· Web Gateways & SSO: Familiarity with API Gateways, Heracles, FSSO, and Web SSO integrations, ensuring secure authentication and authorization flows.
· Testing & Automation: Hands-on experience with JUnit, TestNG, RestAssured, Selenium, Postman, and mocking frameworks (Mockito, EasyMock).
· Build & Version Control: Skilled with Maven/Gradle/Ant, Git (GitHub/Bitbucket), and artifact repositories (Artifactory, Nexus).
· CI/CD & DevOps: Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, CodePipeline), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS), and deployment automation on PCF and AWS.
· Observability & Ops: Experience with Splunk, Dynatrace, Swagger, Grafana for monitoring, logging, and API documentation.
· Agile Ways of Working: Experienced in Agile/SAFe delivery, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and working closely with cross-functional teams.
· Security & Compliance: Knowledge of OWASP, secure coding practices, encryption standards, and compliance frameworks. Skilled in configuring SonarQube, Checkmarx, Veracode for code quality and security assurance.
· Problem Solving & Innovation: Ability to analyze complex design challenges, propose innovative solutions, and make independent, data-driven decisions in dynamic environments.
