Title and Summary

Manager, Software Engineering Overview
The Portfolio Intelligence team within Mastercard Services organization is seeking a Manager, Software Engineering to play a critical role in advancing the Mastercard Intelligence Center, the organization's flagship business intelligence platform. In this role, you will lead a team of talented engineers in rebuilding a key product using cutting-edge analytics, modern software architecture, and the latest web technologies. This fintech platform is designed to extract actionable insights from massive datasets, enabling clients to make multi-million-dollar business decisions.

You will have the opportunity to build a high-performance analytics platform that advances how businesses all over the world unleash the most value from Mastercard data. Our next-generation platform blends industry-leading analytics, advanced software architecture, and the latest web technologies. You will play a vital role within a rapidly growing organization while working closely with experienced and driven engineers to solve challenging problems. Engineers work in small, flexible teams. Every team member contributes to feature design, building, and testing. The range of work you encounter varies from front-end web development to writing server-side calculation code to database work.

Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of software engineers.
Balance engineering leadership with hands‑on technical contribution (approximately 50/50), including coding, design, and architectural decision‑making.

Provide strategic technical leadership across the platform, guiding design and implementation of complex, large‑scale components.

Establish and promote software development best practices, with a strong focus on code quality, maintainability, and scalability.

Evaluate, recommend, and integrate emerging technologies to enhance platform scalability, efficiency, and maintainability.
Drive the team's transition toward future-state products, including AI-driven and intelligent automation solutions.
Lead large-scale initiatives from concept through delivery, ensuring timelines, quality standards, and business outcomes are met.
Drive the roadmap for a suite of web applications that deliver business insights through Mastercard data.
Partner with cross-functional teams—Software Delivery, Security, Privacy, and Product Management—across Pune and U.S. locations

About You
Proven experience managing and mentoring software engineering teams.
Strong full-stack development background in an agile environment.
Expertise in designing scalable, modular systems and APIs.
Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, React, PostgreSQL; experience with Snowflake or Databricks is a plus.
Deep understanding of web and server-side technologies, microservices, and data architecture.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Motivation, creativity, self-direction, and desire to thrive on small project teams
Prior experience leading a team or mentoring other engineers, both technically and professionally preferred
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field; advanced degrees are a plus.
