About the Role
The Authentication Program is responsible for Mastercard's safety and security related product development efforts to protect the integrity of the electronic payment system as well as ensure payments are convenient yet secure. Identity Check is Mastercard's global authentication solution based on the EMV 3-D Secure protocol and Mastercard state-of-the-art authentication intelligence. It is designed to help provide security for digital transactions and facilitate higher approval rates, by improving the authentication experience for merchants, issuers, and cardholders for e-commerce transactions. As part of our team, you will play a critical part in developing high-performing, highly scalable software solutions designed to enhance our Identity Check product.
Role:
Participate in the design and delivery of highly scalable, fault tolerant, performant, and secure applications
Work closely with architects, tech leads, developers, analysts and project managers to ensure requirements and technical designs adhere to standards and best practices
Estimate and own delivery tasks (design, development, testing, configuration, deployment, documentation) to meet business requirements
Participate in investigatory calls to troubleshoot and resolve production issues in real-time
Develop complete understanding of end-to-end technical architecture and dependency systems
Adopt new languages and architecture patterns needed for the work
Provide technical guidance to the team, and assist peers and less experienced members
Participate in and contribute to technical discussions with Leadership of varying levels, Architects, Tech Leads, Engineers
Performs demos of completed work or knowledge transfer sessions
Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency or reduce toil time
Demonstrate active learning and sharing of software practices via Guild/ Engineering community initiatives
All About You:
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or extensive work experience
Proven hands-on experience with Java/Java EE with Spring framework (including Spring Boot), Redis and/or OracleDB, Tomcat application server
Understands and follows secure coding standards (e.g. OWASP, CWE, SEI CERT) to produce secure code
Understands and implements standard branching (e.g. Gitflow) and peer review practices
Understands and builds test code at unit level, service level, and integration level to ensure code and functional coverage
Experience with testing tools such as Junit/Mockito/Spring Test
Experience with a variety of architectural patterns including high performance, high availability transaction processing systems, and multi-tiered web applications
Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Chef, and Docker
Possesses the skills to do thorough analysis of complex features and elaborate and estimate functional and non-functional requirements, including security (e.g. data protection), regulatory, and performance (SLA's, throughput, transactions per second)
Presentation skills for demoing work to Architects, Tech Leads, Project Managers, Engineering Managers
Thorough and extensive knowledge and understanding of Software Engineering concepts and methodologies is required
Self-motivated with the ability to take ownership of complex features, stories, tasks, and defects with minimal direction
Strong logical and analytics skills with the ability to articulate and present their thoughts clearly
Collaborative team player with a desire to learn from and teach others
