Overview:
The People & Capabilities Engineering team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to advance a transformative, AI driven HR tech ecosystem that reimagines employee experiences and accelerates organizational excellence. This team owns a spectrum of applications deployed across GCP, AWS, Azure, and on premises, and the role demands an engineer who can collaborate tightly with business partners and technology vendors to deliver end to end solutions. You'll integrate and implement capabilities through software development, SSO integration, API integration, AI enablement, and automation, translating business requirements into secure, scalable applications that simplify HR processes, elevate service quality, and deliver measurable impact across the employee journey.

Role:
• Own the lifecycle of 80+ SaaS applications—maintain, enhance, and scale solutions deployed across AWS, Azure, GCP, and on premises environments, ensuring reliability, performance, and compliance.
• Implement enterprise grade security controls—deliver and harden SSO (SAML/OIDC), automated user provisioning via SCIM (or applicable patterns), role based access, and secure secrets management, aligned with corporate security policies.
• Integrate systems through robust APIs—design, develop, and consume RESTful services, establish versioned contracts, and ensure observability (logging, metrics, tracing) across integrations.
• Author and maintain technical documentation—create data flow diagrams, interface specifications, and operational runbooks, lead data privacy reviews and capture decisions in technical flow documentation.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy high quality applications and services with clear SLIs/SLOs and error budgets.
• Apply engineering best practices—establish and evolve automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, static/dynamic security scanning, and monitoring/alerting for production readiness.
• Mentor and elevate the team—provide technical guidance, perform rigorous code reviews, and coach junior engineers to raise design, coding, and operational standards.
• Collaborate cross functionally—work closely with Architects, HR stakeholders, and technology vendors to align roadmaps, de risk integrations, and deliver cohesive experiences.
• Uphold engineering and security standards—ensure adherence to Mastercard Engineering Principles, architecture guardrails, and information security requirements throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Automate processes where necessary—streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and ensure efficiency through automation and integration.

All About You:
• Good understanding and knowledge of Software Engineering Concepts and Methodologies is required.
• Development experience with cloud-based applications deployed in Azure/AWS/GCP is required.
• Strong desire and prior experience automating common tasks.
• Competency using industry standard automation/scripting languages (e.g. Powershell, Bash, Python).
• Familiar with secure coding standards such as OWASP, CWE, and SEI CERT.
• Proficiency in developing and consuming RESTful services, with hands-on experience in modern web development frameworks such as AngularJS and ReactJS.
• Solid expertise in relational database programming, including advanced SQL and PL/SQL for data manipulation and optimization.
• Background on cloud native tooling and orchestration technologies
• Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and capacity measurement.
• Capable of translating user stories into scalable, maintainable backend solutions.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently in fast-paced environments.
