Overview
The Senior Vice President, Communications for the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region will serve as a strategic leader responsible for shaping and executing Mastercard's communications vision across one of the company's most dynamic and diverse regions. This role will drive reputation, engagement, and alignment with global priorities while navigating cultural nuances and market complexities. The LAC Communications leader will partner closely with senior executives and cross-functional teams to deliver integrated communications strategies that strengthen and protect Mastercard's brand, advance its mission, and inspire employees and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
• Shape and Execute Regional Communications Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan that aligns with company priorities and strengthens Mastercard's reputation and brand presence across Latin America and the Caribbean.
• Drive Brand and Business Impact: Position Mastercard as a trusted leader in payments through strategic storytelling, integrated campaigns, and thought leadership initiatives that resonate with diverse audiences.
• Lead Media Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with regional and pan-regional media; manage proactive communications to enhance Mastercard's reputation.
• Enhance Executive Visibility: Elevate the profiles of senior leaders through high-impact speaking engagements, media opportunities, and thought leadership content tailored to regional priorities.
• Oversee Culture and Employee Engagement: Deliver programs that inspire employees, foster culture, and connect teams to Mastercard's mission and values, ensuring consistency across multiple markets.
• Manage Issues, Crisis and Policy Communications: Protect Mastercard's reputation, serving as a trusted advisor during sensitive situations, providing strategic counsel in partnership with the business, legal, policy and crisis response teams.
• Lead Creative Content and Campaign Development: Oversee the creation of compelling content across innovative formats beyond the press release.
• Collaborate Across Functions and Divisions: Partner with executive leadership, marketing, public policy, People & Capabilities and cross-functional teams to integrate communications into business priorities and regional growth strategies.
• Measure and Optimize Performance: Establish metrics and dashboards to assess the effectiveness of communications initiatives, leveraging insights to continuously improve impact.
• Mentor and Inspire Teams: Lead and develop a high-performing communications team, fostering collaboration and professional growth across geographies.
• Manage Thought Leadership Customer Forums – negotiating and managing strategic events that spotlight Mastercard's competitive differentiators and reach our key stakeholders
• Oversee the management of the area's budget and financial due diligence.

Ideal Candidate:
• Proven track record in strategic communications, reputation management, and employee engagement within a global organization.
• Exceptional creativity and ability to craft compelling narratives that resonate across diverse cultures and geographies.
• Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish, with the ability to influence at all levels; Portuguese is a plus.
• Passion for building an inclusive, innovative, and engaged employee community.
• Ability to navigate a matrixed organization and manage multiple internal stakeholder groups effectively.
• Experienced people leader with the ability to motivate and inspire high-performing teams across markets.
• Trusted counselor on issues related to communications and reputation, with demonstrated experience in crisis and issues management.
• Experience leading regional communications efforts, managing teams across multiple markets. In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. Mastercard benefits for interns generally include: 56 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time; jury duty leave; and on-site fitness facilities in some locations.
