Overview
The Marketing & Commiunications team is looking for a SVP, Marketing and Communications to lead the marketing and communications organization for the North Division in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). This executive position, sits on both the IMC LAC and the North Division ELT and plays a crucial role in setting and delivering divisional strategy, fostering a successful culture, and integrating marketing with other verticals such as services, product, and sales.
Role
• Strategic advisor to the regional president and business development teams on leveraging marketing and communications to win new business and service existing clients
• Assist in managing vital customer relationships and work with partners on co-marketing campaigns and initiatives.
• Represent Mastercard in industry forums as a thought leader and subject matter expert.
• Position Mastercard products and services appropriately in local market contexts. Oversees traditional media and digital activation plans in support of planned product and service launches, corporate announcements, and thought leadership initiatives.
• Sets local Marketing and comms strategies, including advertising, promotions, sponsorships, market research and corporate communications, to align with business priorities and deliver against company objectives.
• Initiates and leads projects on behalf the division, balancing the needs of stakeholders, managing multiple work streams, and overseeing the planning and budgeting process.
• Play a role in the marketing and advertising industry to position Mastercard as a leading global brand.
• Oversees agency and media negotiations for the division and plays a key role in the negotiations of the regional scope.
• Makes decisions and adjustments based on results of program performance measurement and evaluation.
• Accountable for local Marketing budget and ensuring that all campaigns, programs, and activities are within the allocated budget.
• Supervises several groups/teams, ensures compliance to goal setting and performance appraisal processes, coaches and develops employees as an organizational resource.
• Oversees fully integrated strategic communications plan (including external, internal, public affairs and regulatory communications) for North Division, or a specific area of the business.
• Evaluates best practices on multi-platform communication vehicles and sets direction for the business area's internal and external communications.
• Drive marketing innovation in both activation of current marketing campaigns and creating new ways to connect with consumers to continue growing our brand presence in the market.
• Works with senior management and business owners to develop messaging and content delivery while coordinating closely with Worldwide Communications network.
• Develops and leverages relations with media partners, agencies, consultants, community leaders and governments.
• Works in close collaboration with Worldwide Communications team members as part of the network to share approved content and messaging to both internal and external audiences.
All About You
The ideal candidate for this position should have:
-Experience that includes CMO responsibilities for a mid sized firm or having run a marketing department of at least 30 individuals
• Oversight or direct management of a comms function
• Experience in an external facing role, managing customers and partners
• Ability to work in a multi matrix environment
• Prior experience with a payment network, technology company, retail bank or other financial services company with an intermediary business model.
• Experience in the markets (Mexico, Central America and Caribbean)
• Proven track record of establishing integrated marketing plans across the division that leverage synergies between marketing channels and deliver results.
• Proven ability in building and strengthening collaborative relationships with global Marketing counterparts and representing the voice of the local market.
• Significant experience and proven success in one or more marketing families, with extensive additional experience in three or more marketing families, including B2B or Consumer Marketing.
• Extensive track record and achievements in developing and delivering complex communications programs to both internal and external audiences.
• Strong track record of successfully managing complex business topics or multiple crisis management communications engagements (e.g., identified resources and tools, contributed to business continuity management, interacts with public policy teams).
• Extensive experience in independently communicating compelling product value propositions to important audiences (e.g., high profile industry conferences, internal and external stakeholders).
• Proven track of sound commercial success aligning marketing and communications with the business.
• Proven Track record of building partnerships and relationships with proven ability to influence.
