The Technology Risk Management (TRM) organization is a business enabler and industry leader of technology and security risk management practices, supported by a multi-disciplinary team of top security, technology, and risk professionals. Our mission is to exceed stakeholder expectations by providing enhanced visibility and proactive management of technology risks and ensuring strong security and sound operational environment.

The Risk Governance & Operations (RG&O) team within TRM is looking for a Technology Risk Analyst – Information Classification & Protection to support programs and practices that enable Mastercard to meet information security requirements and regulations for the identification, classification, and protection, and monitoring of sensitive information—primarily focused on the design and implementation of Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) / Azure Information Protection (AIP) solutions. The ideal candidate is experienced in information classification & protection policies and practices, highly motivated, intellectually curious, and able to work with a diverse stakeholder group to ensure that our information classification & protection program meets all relevant requirements.


Assist with the design, implementation, and ongoing management of the company's Information Classification & Protection program, including relevant policies and standards.

Support the development and implementation an employee awareness and education program to ensure that our information classification and protection practices are well understood and effectively used by our global staff.

Analyze reporting and other outputs from information classification protection tools such as MIP / AIP to provide feedback on the program's operational effectiveness, identify areas of potential concern.

All About You

The ideal candidate for this role will:

Have experience with the design, implementation, and ongoing management of Microsoft's MIP / AIP solutions, ideally in a large, global, heavily regulated environment.

Know how to obtain, analyze, summarize, and report on risk management data, especially related to information classification and protection.

Be skilled at explaining technical problems and capabilities succinctly and clearly, across all communications mediums and to a diverse group of stakeholders and end-users.

Be familiar with industry best practices and regulatory expectations regarding information classification and protection, especially related to financial services / payments. Experience with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR in Europe, GLBA & CCPA in the U.S.) is a plus.

Have strong IT and project management skills, ideally in the support of implementation of information protection governance and vendor technology configuration and deployment.

Be familiar with the payments industry, the role that Mastercard plays in the industry, and the evolving product suite that Mastercard offers—with a lens to the types of information and data handled by Mastercard and its business partners.

Be passionate about enabling security and information protection technologies that are both effective and embraced by users.

Have a degree in information security management, information technology management, data protection, or a similar / related discipline. Relevant experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
