General Summary of Position
Designs reviews proposed technology and creates conceptual and logical architectures in support of MedStar's business requirements in accordance with MedStar's system development lifecycle. Maintains along-range view of future needs and solutions while depicting TCO. Plans for life and refresh cycles. Ensures that an architected solution works in line with all viewpoints application network desktop server storage etc. Works with other architects suppliers and project teams in support of implementing new solutions. Works in conjunction with the Enterprise Architect on design strategy and standards. Coordinates the requirements gathering review solutions received from the vendor and provides the bridge between the technical domain architects and Information Services staff to ensure the technology infrastructure meets the business requirements.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists with the definition and technical evaluation criteria and standards during product selection. Ability to transform business requirements into technical requirements.
• Assumes role of technical coordinator during project deployment to ensure that all technical components are functioning appropriately. Develops remediation plan between architects and suppliers to address issues.
• Conceptualizes and develops abstract representations.
• Contributes to the achievement of established divisional/department goals and objectives. Adheres to divisional/departmental policies and information systems standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
• Develops and institutionalizes an enterprise perspective.
• Ensures that the defined technical solution meets the enterprise business needs and integrates with the applications.
• Performs and monitors TCO of proposed solutions.
• Performs other duties as assigned. Understands emerging technologies.
• Understands the competitive and regulatory climate of the industry. Consults on application or infrastructure development projects to fit systems or infrastructure to the technical architecture and identifies when it is necessary to modify the technical architecture to accommodate project needs.
• Understands existing systems and technology. Understands business practices and approaches. Works with current upcoming business requirements and strategies to align them with a technology design solution and standards.
• Works with business partners to understand business drivers. Establishes a collaborative working relationship with business functions to facilitate aforementioned goals.

Minimal Qualifications
Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Information Systems required or
• an equivalent combination of education and technical experience. required

Experience

• 10+ years Industry-related experience including 7 years technical and customer support management and project management experience required and
• End-to-end project lifecycle experience including business case definition requirements gathering and architecture through development and implementation expertise required

Licenses and Certifications

• MCITP (MicroSoft Certified IT Professional) preferred and
• MCTS (MicroSoft Certified Technology Specialist) preferred

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Expert knowledge of industry standard infrastructure components to include Windows based Intel Servers Enterprise Network Components Microsoft Exchange Microsoft Active Directory Microsoft SQL Server Server Virtualization Enterprise SAN Storage and Unix/Linux Servers.
• Excellent written negotiation organizational and presentation skills.
• Proven analytical ability to solve complex business and technical problems.
• Versatile computing skills including experience with numerous industry-standard administrative groupware applications and project management tools. Superior interpersonal skills with management userscustomers and coworkers.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively interface with vendors internal/external customers and executive management.
• Experience in implementations migrations troubleshooting and lifecycle management of the above listed technologies.
