General Summary of Position
Responsible for the supervision training and management of the food service overnight operation. Ensure that appropriate quantities of food are prepared and served. Duties also include overseeing and assisting staff to ensure food is being prepared and served to patients in accordance with diets established by the dietitians and with the proper food consistency. This individual will provide the general responsibilities of the position including those listed below but other responsibilities may be identified for the position. These functions are performed in accordance of all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy policies procedures and standards.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required or
- 1-2 years 2 years of food preparation experience. required and
- Large-scale food preparation and/or hospital dietary experience preferred and
- Previous catering experience preferred
- ServSafe Food Handler - SSFH ServSafe Completion of Sanitation and Food Handlers course preferred
- Knowledge of a variety of foods their preparation and serving etiquette.
- Ability to handle heavy workload.
- Basic knowledge of sanitary methods used in food preparation knowledge of safety precautions and HACCP procedures in cooking food preferred.
- Must be able to follow directions understand written and oral instructions and have basic mathematical skills.
- Able to interact with all levels of staff.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to use a computer.
- Must be courteous and tactful in dealing with customers.
- Must be able to exercise good judgement and initiative in satisfying customer requests.
- Must meet competency requirements for patient dietary needs
This position has a hiring range of
USD $42,785.00 - USD $75,441.00 /Yr.
