General Summary of Position
Designs and develops infrastructure solutions using state-of-the-art development technologies. Serves as project manager for complex development projects including architecture, project planning, implementing, tracking, development, and reporting. Works within a team of architects to identify and recommend emerging technologies. Works with other IS Architects to create and document architectural design and development standards, methodologies and best practices and trains staff on the use of these practices. Creates and conducts internal training sessions on selected infrastructure development technologies and techniques. Reviews infrastructure designs for appropriateness, feasibility and adherence to standards. Confers with and advises colleagues on policies and procedures, technical problems and methods. Consults with and advises users of various information systems infrastructure.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creates and conducts internal training sessions for staff on application development technologies, techniques, standards and best practices.
  • Creates design and development standards and methodology including design, implementation and documentation standards.
  • Designs and develops complex enterprise-wide infrastructures including contributing to the creation of the overall technical strategy.
  • Displays group leadership qualities. Provides coaching/mentoring, technical direction and guidance to IS Engineers and other staff.
  • Reviews and consults on third party vendor products for technical, architectural and technological soundness during vendor and product purchasing. Reviews network infrastructure designs, architecture and methodologies of other members of the team and provides feedback as appropriate.
  • Reviews the appropriateness of the design, the feasibility of successful implementation, and adherence to standards.
  • Serves as project manager for complex enterprise infrastructure development projects which includes; developing work plans, making project assignments, and correcting performance of all project participants including staff, consultants, vendors and others assigned to the project.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience required
    • One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

    Experience

    • 3-4 years 4 years experience in designing and supporting large technical environments required and
    • Technical project planning and management experience; vendor and staff supervision experience required
    • One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.

    Licenses and Certifications

    • No special certification, registration, or licensure required.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Working knowledge of user computing in the healthcare environment. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
