General Summary of Position
MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is looking for a Lead Tumor Registrar to remotely support the Medical Records department. This position serves as the Lead Tumor Registrar in providing oversight of applicable principal accountabilities and essential functions designated to the Tumor Registrar position. This position oversees and abstracts, codes, and enters into a computerized data base diagnostic, demographic, treatment and follow up information on all patients with diagnoses of malignancies admitted to Georgetown University Hospital and/or the Lombardi Cancer Center. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

Primary Duties
Acts as team lead to Tumor Registrar group to provide excellent and seamless service to client departments. Works closely with Manager to ensure departments experience uninterrupted services from excellence driven teams. Will be responsible for additional projects on an ongoing basis.
Assists in supervision of the Tumor Registrar group and related processes, systems, reports and operations. Serves as mentor to develop applicable organizational competencies and behaviors aligned with GUH values.
Abstracts data from medical records efficiently to meet productivity standards.
Applies knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes, and established guidelines to accurately abstract cancer cases.
Performs procedures for identifying all cases of malignant disease from departments of the hospital, Lombardi Cancer Center and the outpatient areas to maintain suspense file.
Maintains knowledge of cancer treatment, data acquisition, and related skills through continuing education and research.
Answers requests for data from Tumor Registry database.
Organizes and manages case finding and follow up materials appropriately.
Perform data quality reviews for abstracting and staging.
Performs Rapid Quality Reporting System (RQRS) data management.
Coordinates and performs casefinding audit reviews.
Performs DeathMatch management.
Provides as a backup for system upgrade testing.
Works in conjunction with the Manager on Report Requests.

Qualifications
Associate degree in health related field, Required.
Bachelor's degree, Preferred.
A minimum of two (2) years' directly related work experience, Required.
Working knowledge of personal computers, in-house computer systems, word processors, typewriters, telephones, copy machines and microfiche readers.
TR - Tumor Registrar or eligible to sit for certification. Upon Hire, Required.
