General Summary of Position

Responsible for the safe driving of the mobile unit and the proper running and maintenance of the vehicle serving the communities of Baltimore and will provide access to care to underserved areas.

The Mobile Driver will cover both units North and South when needed. They will be required to learn MedStar Health's registration system IDX and serve as front desk when needed.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Must be able to pass periodic DOT physicals. Maintains Department of Transportation safety codes and standards when operating mobile unit. Maintains a clean driving record.
  • Drives Mobile Clinic to and from clinic sessions at community-based organization, health fairs and other events, as directed.
  • Maintains awareness of potential risk to clients, staff and facility while clinic is in session.
  • Performs all routine maintenance and interior cleaning services for mobile unit.
  • Replenishes stock of clinic/medical supplies to mobile unit.
  • Facilitates related services for health center patients as appropriate with respect to their confidentiality and privacy.
  • Maintains daily log of vehicle mileage and compressor hours.
  • Completes driver vehicle evaluation form weekly.
  • Maintains log of routine inspections of vehicle, daily, weekly and monthly.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent required

    Experience

    • Less than 1 year Customer service experience required and
    • 2 years of experience driving a commercial vehicle preferred and
    • Medical terminology preferred

    Licenses and Certifications

    • CDL License Valid Commercial Driving License (CDL) Upon Hire required and
    • CDL - Group B - Commercial Drivers License Class B -airbrakes in the State of Maryland Upon Hire required and
    • No current points assigned to Driver's license required and
    • HAZMAT Certification preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills preferred. Working knowledge of various computer software applications. Ability to operate standard office equipment.


    This position has a hiring range of $18 - $28.73
