General Summary of Position
The incumbent in this position performs a full range of nuclear medicine procedures to include routine, emergency and off-site portables. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs full range of nuclear medicine procedures in the department as well as designated ancillary areas to include venipuncture and the injection of radiopharmaceuticals, under the direction of the authorized user.
  • Ensures that radiation safety precautions are taken when necessary.
  • Provides basic information to patients, families and/or nursing staff concerning procedures to be performed.
  • Assists the Nuclear Medicine Physicians in performing special procedures.
  • Assists with the upkeep of nuclear medicine equipment, adheres to all related safety requirements, reports need for equipment repairs and keeps assigned room(s) in the department clean and stocked.
  • Operates hospital information and computer programs including nuclear medicine systems.
  • Transports patients to and from Department, when necessary.
  • Participates in orientation and other opportunities for learning as delegated for the department, other Hospital staff and students.
  • Exemplifies Guest and Staff Relations in all activities.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Must be a graduate of an AMA approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology. required

    Experience

    • Prior work experience not required preferred
    • 1-2 years Hospital based experience preferred
    • Skills in operating nuclear medicine stationary and mobile equipment, nuclear medicine computers and in instructing others in their proper use. required

    Licenses and Certifications

    • ARRT required or
    • Health Services\NMTCB - Nuclear Medicine Tech required or
    • ASCP - American Society of Clinical Pathologist required
    • Certification must be received within 1 Year required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Must have basic knowledge of nuclear medicine theory and techniques, radiation safety practices, good knowledge of specialized and complex nuclear medicine procedures.
    • Ability to work under stressful and emergent situations.
    • Effective communication skills.


    This position has a hiring range of $34.98 - $62.52
