General Summary of Position
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist leads or supports projects within the Supply Chain department, which may include but are not limited to strategic sourcing, operational procurement, and inventory management. The Strategic Sourcing Specialist manages projects, performs analytics, facilitates change management, and identifies process improvement initiatives across various phases of Supply Chain.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Provides data, analytics, and decision support to strategic sourcing and other project teams to conduct exploratory data analysis from complex, disparate data sources to recognize patterns, and identifies member performance improvement opportunities.
  • Develops comprehensive current state assessments.
  • Conducts market research through benchmarking to identify opportunities, forecast savings, and identify any risks or barriers to initiate a project.
  • Analyzes large amounts of data, synthesizes the data, and presents/communicates findings.
  • Identifies internal business preferences and sensitivities early in planning process; develops plans to integrate/resolve conflicting points of view.
  • Works collaboratively with all team stakeholders to help ensure that the project captures all relevant points of view, remains on schedule and within scope, and risks are identified and mitigation strategies are developed.
  • Develops metrics, methods and procedures which drive results across projects, and link to business objectives.
  • Helps sourcing team qualify suppliers for bidding process; when necessary. Creates and disseminates supplier Requests for Information (RFIs); compares RFI responses to help team determine whether particular suppliers should be invited to bid. Helps prepare Request for Quotation (RFQs) documents for dissemination to qualified suppliers, including detailed well-organized quotation spreadsheets often included with RFQs. Organizes detailed comparisons of supplier RFQ responses to help sourcing team normalize responses; performs analyses to help sourcing team compare/contrast strengths and weaknesses of suppliers and their proposals Leverages any sourcing tools to collect and disseminate information;
  • Supports development of sourcing team's negotiation strategy by performing advanced cost modeling and sensitivity/scenario analysis to help team determine trade-offs and business benefits from a range of possible negotiation outcomes.
  • Leads or supports negotiations on behalf of the sourcing team.
  • Conducts as-needed analyses by providing team with accurate spreadsheets, financial analyses, and presentations that are clear & easy to interpret.
  • At conclusion of a project, quantifies and documents results achieved by working with team members to facilitate project implementation, conversion tracking, sustainment, and forecasting savings.
  • Works with team members to facilitate project implementation, and sustainment.
  • Reviews opportunities to address reoccurring specials and pricing discrepancies for contracting opportunity for items not on contract.
  • Shares best practices amongst team members internal and external to Supply Chain.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts. Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • 4 year degree in business management, finance, accounting, supply chain, or project management required and
    • MBA preferred

    Experience

    • 3-4 years Relevant experience in a multi-faceted corporate environment. demonstrated experience with supply chain operations, process improvement, and project management. required and
    • Healthcare industry knowledge/experience. Experience with Tableau preferred

    Licenses and Certifications

    • Six Sigma or Lean Process Improvement preferred and
    • Supply Chain and Purchasing certifications preferred

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills: Proven ability to manipulate and manage complex data sets in Microsoft Excel;
