Find your calling at Mercy! The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients and their families during various health stages. This
includes maintaining professional accountability, evaluating the effectiveness of care, coordinating patient care with other departments, and
upholding patient rights and confidentiality. The Clinical Coordinator is cross trained in various clinical areas and may serve in a leadership
role directing co-workers, evaluating staffing needs, and acting as a liaison for physicians and families. The role also involves monitoring

Overview:
  • Direct Patient Care: Delivers personalized, compassionate care utilizing the Nursing Process and demonstrating proficiency with basic nursing skills, equipment, and procedures.

  • Physician Support: Assists physicians during examinations, procedures, and other patient care activities.

  • Medication Administration: Safely administers medications in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  • Care Planning: Develops patient care plans using the nursing process, establishing realistic and measurable goals.

  • Clinical Communication: Reports patient problems to the interdisciplinary team and responds promptly to monitoring alarms based on patient status.

  • Documentation: Completes required documentation accurately, legibly, and thoroughly, including admission assessments, discharge summaries, consent forms, and medication reconciliation.

  • Interpersonal Communication: Communicates effectively with hospital staff, physicians, patients, and families, serving as a positive role model.

  • Delegation & Collaboration: Assigns tasks appropriately, ensures patient needs are met, and collaborates with ancillary departments to coordinate tests and procedures.

  • Education: Acts as a change agent by providing education and instruction to patients and staff.

  • Performance Improvement: Supports hospital Performance Improvement initiatives by adhering to policies and providing ongoing peer education.

  • Other Duties: Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN)

  • Licensure: Current RN license with the State Board of Nursing.

  • Experience: 1 year of direct patient care

  • Certifications: Must have American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within probation period. Perioperative certification (i.e. CNOR, CAPA) preferred.

  • Preferred Education: Master's degree in Nursing, Health Administration or related field.

  • Preferred Experience: 3 years in perioperative services and previous management experience
