As the Clinical Nurse Manager of Mercy Clinic Orthopedics - River Valley unit, you will be accountable for the overall quality of patient care, staffing, financial performance, and operational excellence of your assigned unit(s). You will collaborate closely with Nursing Leadership, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure regulatory compliance, patient safety, and a positive experience for patients and coworkers alike. Position Details:

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe, high-quality, age-appropriate patient care through daily rounding, patient advocacy, and compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise unit staff while fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.

  • Ensure completion of competencies, required education, and participation in unit meetings and committees.

  • Manage staffing, schedules, payroll accuracy, productivity targets, overtime, and operational budgets.

  • Partner with Nursing Leadership, Education, and ancillary services to support quality improvement, staff development, and patient satisfaction.

  • Maintain compliance with all Mercy policies, safety standards, infection control requirements, and standards of care.

  • This position holds 24-hour responsibility for unit operations and serves as a visible, supportive leader for staff.

Qualifications

Required

  • Education: Graduate of an approved school of nursing

    • BSN required or must be actively enrolled with completion within 2 years

  • Licensure: Current RN license in the applicable state of practice

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 4 years of clinical nursing experience in a specialty or related area

    • Demonstrated knowledge of leadership, staff supervision, performance improvement, and budgeting

  • Certifications:

    • Current CPR certification

    • NRP certification

  • Skills:

    • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills

    • Basic computer skills (Windows, MS Office, data entry)

Preferred

  • MSN

  • At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience

  • PALS certification
